The CITY
by GARY
1972

Subtle greying hazes flowing
Into shadowing corridors,
Silent diadems appearing against
Distant canvasses of fusing orange,
Silent monuments pointing rounding
Fingers toward the nighting sky,
Shafting streamers of red and white,
Ribbons of light stretching forth piercing
The harmony of earth and canopy, a
Carboned setting of waxing jewels, deepening
Conquest of coming solitude
