| INGREDIENTS
|
10 - 11 lasagna noodles
(whole). 1 pound ground beef.
1 diced onion.
1 jar (approx. 28 - 30 oz.) favorite spaghetti sauce.
1 1/2 cups tomato ketchup.
| 3/4 pound grated cheddar
cheese.
1/2 pound of ricotta cheese (or substitute cottage cheese - small curd).
Grated parmesan cheese as desired. 2 - 3 bay leaves
Salt and pepper to taste.

| INSTRUCTIONS
|
Using a large cooking or
stock pot, bring enough water to boil to cook the lasagna noodles. You may oil them before
placing in the pot or put a little olive oil in the water to prevent them from sticking
together.
Cook the ground meat until brown by crumbling in the pan (salt and pepper to taste) - drain and
discard the grease from the meat.
In a cooking pot, combine:
:: Spaghetti sauce.
:: Tomato ketchup.
:: Diced onion.
:: Bay leaves.
Cook until well blended and onion has mixed well. (KEEP A LID ON THE POT - spaghetti
sauce will splatter all over while cooking).
REMOVE the bay leaves from the sauce when it is finished.
Drain water from cooked lasagna noodles.
Using a 9 x 13 baking dish (glass, ceramic or stainless preferred), begin to assemble:
:: Place three lasagna noodles in the bottom of the dish (make sure the bottom is covered - use
part of another noodle if needed to completeley cover the bottom.
:: Spread 1/3 of the spaghetti sauce mixture over the noodles.
:: Spread 1/3 of the ground beef over the spaghetti sauce.
:: Spread 1/2 of the riccotta or cottage cheese over the spaghetti sauce.
:: Spread 1/3 of the cheddar cheese over the ricotta cheese..
:: Place another layer of lasagna noodles over this first layer, completely covering the first
layer.
:: Spread 1/2 of remaining spaghetti sauce mixture over the noodles.
:: Spread 1/2 of remaining ground beef over the spaghetti sauce.
:: Spread remaining ricotta or cottage cheese over the spaghetti sauce.
:: Spread 1/2 of remaining cheddar cheese over the ricotta or cottage cheese.
:: Place another layer of lasagna noodles of the second layer, completely covering the second
layer.
:: Spread the remaining spaghetti sauce over the noodles.
:: Spread the remaining bround beef over the spaghetti sauce.
:: Spread the remaining cheddar cheese over the ground beef and spaghetti sauce.
Place grated parmesan cheese on top before baking or reserve for later use at the table.
Place in a pre-heated 375 degree oven.
Bake for 40 minutes. If cheese starts to get brown too soon - reduce heat to 350 degrees and
cover lightly with aluminum foil.
