Dear Nephew
I read your Letter Some time ago but have been so Busy that I could not get time to
write I was disapointed to hear that you could not come this Fall. I was glad to
hear that your prospects were so good for a winters Job and hope that you will make lots of
money and come out here as Soon as you can in the Spring if you want to work for
wages i will want a man to help me next sumer and will give a hundred Dollars for 4 months
work. You can then take a claim of 160 Acres and I will take the Same joining it and we will go
into Farming on an extensive scale raising wheat Hogs and cattle this is a good
Grant Country and grain of all kinds boars a good price wheat 75 and 80 c per bush. We never
have rain in harvest time to damage the Crop as is often the case in the States Pork
is worth Six Dollars per hundred lbs and can be raised without much trouble Beef
is worth from three to 4 cents per pound and I think there is a Splendid Chance here for a young
man to het a start in life if he will go to work with a will I think I can Secure the
stock to Start with and if you think it advisable we will work together for a time I
dont want you or Walter to have to work out all your lives when there is such a good chance for
you here to rise above the Poverty and want of the Past I wish you could both
come and get places joining write to him and see what he thinks about
it May God Bless and Prosper you in life is my earnest prayer give
my love and Best wishes to Brother George and Famil and tell Him I am looking for a letter from
him Soon Yours in Hast with Love and best wishes
James Berrian
