Dear Nephew
Yours of April 13 came to hand yesterday I was glad to hear from you that yo
were in the enjoyment of good health but was disapointed to hear you had given up coming out
here this Season I would have liked to have had you come this season if posible
before all the good homesteads were taken up the Country is Setling up Rapidly
and i would like to have you take a chnace in with the rest this is a Splendid Stock
Country and there is ig money in it I would like to go into it my Self if I were
younger but if you come perhaps we might go in to it together So that it would be profitable to
Both of us and there is one thing certain your land at the expiration of 5 years would be worth
more than all you will be able to Save in the Same length of time from your wges tht you are
getting in Kansas Wages here are from 25 to 30 Doll per month and i think you
would do better to come out right away than to wait untill an other year you can go
to School here this winter if you wish to you can make your Home with me untill you can look
around and find Some Busines that Suite you it will be Safe for you to Start with
70 Dollars to come here the Fare from San Francisco to Portland is Seven dolls
cabin pasage and two in the Stearage and 7 more from portland to Colimbus where i live. think
this over and i think you will decide to come right away for i think it would be for your intrest
and to put it off untill next year this leaves us all in good health and I hope will
find you and all of the rest of my Folks in good health and Prosperity give our
Love and best wishes to Brother and Sister and the Deer Children and may the Blessing of our
Kind Heavenly Father rest upon you all is my Earnest prayer We have had quite a
Backward Spring for this Country but every thing is coming out right from
present apperances there will be plenty of Fruit this year i think. tell George to
write as i am in haste I will stop for this time hoping to hear from
