Dear Nephew

Your's of Feb 23rd came Safe to hand a few days Since   I was glad to hear from you and Brother George and tht you were in the enjoyment of good health   I was Supprised to hear that your Mother was dead but Sincerely hope that She was fully prepared for the enjoyment of those Heavenly Mansions above that our Blessed Savior has gone to fit and prepare for all who Love and Serve him in spirit and in Truth and my Earnest prayer is that you and I may So order our lives by the Power of God's Love and Grace in our hearts that we may all meet to part no more in that Haven of Eternal rest where the weary and forever at rest and the wicked cease from Troubling   May God's Blessing rest upon my sisters Boy and may you be Led by the Spirit of the Lord Jesus Christ and enter into the enjoyment of that rest which Blessed be the Name of the Lord the World can neither give nor take away   I hope you will take this matter under consideration and will come out on the Lords Side and Serve the True and Living God with all your Heart - might - Mind and Strenth is my Sincere and Earnest prayer.

You ask me to send my photograph   I would if I had any that I could spare   I would like to have you send me yours. You ask me some questions which I will try and answer as well as I can   there is not a great deal of Government Land vacant here but I think there is Some to be had yet there is plenty of Rail Road land to be had yet but it is not in the market   as for game there is not much in the valley except Praire Chickens and jack Rabits   Back in the mountains there is plenty of deer Bear Foxes and Wolves. the weather here in the Sumer Season is entirel diferent from what it is in the States   very little rain in the sumer with a good deal of wind but no Tornadoes and but very little thunder and Lightning   the winters are not Severe   the Past winter has been an exception   we have had a Snow that was two feet deep in the Klickitat Valley. it laid on nearly too weeks and Stock Sufferd a good deal in consequence and many died for want of food but as a general thing this is a good country for Stock rainsing   you ask what it will cost to Come out here   the Fare from Omaha used to be 40 dol but I think is cheaper now   the fare from San Francisco to Portland Oregon is down at the Present time to two Dolls distance 700 miles time 4 days   to this place from Portland fare is 8 dolls in all 50 dolls   10 more would pay your Board   I think you had better come soon as you can   Wages here are from 20 to 30 dols per month   I think you could get plenty of work   write soon

yours as ever

J A Berrian
