My Dear Son

I sit down to write a few Lines to you to you to Let you know how I am getting along   I am not so very well at Present my brest paines me very much and seemes to hurt me worse all the time   if you couuld see me now you would be sprised to see how I have fell away since you went from hear   I think I have Lost most forty Pounds of flesh   will Lucious I have been Looking for a letter from you for some time but it dont come yet so I thought I would not waite no Longer   I want to see you very much   you do not say in any of your letters about comeing to see us   all I want you when you srite to me to tell me when you are comeing to see me   well Luely I must tell you that Emma Berrian is married to a Mr Jonathan Woods and your uncle james is not expected to Live   he has got the quick consumption   well I must tell you that Willie hurt his sholder very bad yesterday   he thinks the bone is craked he cannot use his arem he has gone to town today to see the doctor

Wille has come Back from the doctors he says his collar bone is broke and it will take a five dollar bill to get it cured   he had it hurt Last Sunday   I will tell you how he hurt it   Harry Black struck him with his fist on the collar bone and broke it so it will lay him up for a Long time from eaning any mony or helping plant corn for he had tew chances to help plant corn this week   well I must soon close for the present i hope that these few Lines may find you well hopeing to hear from you soon   good by for this time   from you Afectionate Mother Mry C Mack to Lucious Clark
