My Dear son

I received your very welcome Letter and was glad to hear that you got thear safe and well   I have been very sick so that I not write to you   I could not sit up onl a Little while and then I would have to go to bed again   I am better today so that I can write to you   my brest is not any better   it is swelled and very hard   it pains me very much

Lucious my Dear child you dont know how mutch I miss you since you went from heare   today is sunday and it is five weeks ago today since you was home   the time seems very Long to me since I have seen you   how I would Like to see you today it would Cheer me yp so mutch if i could see you today but it cannot be

thear was a Letter for you from El Passo to Brimfield   they made a mistake and sent it to counsil grove so if you go thear you can get it   I want you to tell me when you write who it was from   it is a very nice day and Lookes Like spring   the grass is comeing up and some of them have got thear gardens made   Walter and Eddy (and Willie) have gone a fishing to day and I wish you was heare so that you could went with them for you awlways had sutch good Luck to catch them for me   you wanted to know if I have got the ten dollars that you Left for me   I have not got it yet   walter is well and wants you to write him   well Lucious dont stay out thear to Long I want you to tell me when you are a comeing to see me   the time seemes so Long for you to stay out thar all summer   I cannot bear to think it   I dont see how you can stay away so Long   I hope you can make out to reads this poor writeing of mine   well Luely I must soon close for this time   I hope that it may find you all well   give my love to Gorge and Lucindy and the chirldren and a share for yourself   I want them to write to me   Write to me as soon as you get this from you Afectionate Mother Mary C.
